Orna Iskhakov—a New York State licensed acupuncturist who completed her bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine, majoring in science and psychology, and then she obtained her master’s degree in acupuncture from the Tristate College of Acupuncture. Orna focuses on three specific areas: pain management, trigger point therapy, and cosmetic facial acupuncture. She went as far as completing over 100 hours of training in facial cosmetic acupuncture, becoming an ACFA–certified facial acupuncturist. What makes her approach special is that Orna custom-tailors treatment plans to each individual patient, to ensure that the treatment plan would fit well within their unique lifestyles. To increase the efficacy of her treatments, Orna combines multiple traditional Chinese medical modalities, namely, acupuncture, moxibustion, trigger point therapy, cupping, gua sha, Chinese massage (tui na), nutritional counseling, qigong movement exercises, as well as lifestyle modifications. Also, Orna constantly hones her needle techniques to be as delicate as possible, by increasing the precision of her point location, thus to reduce her patients’ stress levels without losing any effectiveness of her acupuncture treatments. She continues to deepen and broaden her skills and knowledge further, and Orna is now working on her Doctorate in integrative medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science.
