Nicole Joy Elmgart, Co-Founder of Treebath and ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide.
Nicole and her husband Oskar Elmgart received their Certification as a Forest Therapy Guides from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs (ANFT) following a nine-day training in Costa Rica. The growing practice of Forest Therapy combines mindfulness techniques with the therapeutic powers of the natural environment. This practice has a research-based proven positive effect on our physical health. Regular sessions improve your mood, reduce stress, improve concentration, and frees up creativity. Forest Therapy has also been shown to help with depression and anxiety. In addition to the above Forest Therapy provides the following benefits:
• Boosted immune system functioning, with an increase in NK cells.
• Reduced stress levels (amount of cortisol in your blood)
• Increased ability to focus, even in children with ADHD
• Increased energy levels
• Improved sleep
During your guided Forest Therapy session with Oskar or Nicole, you will be taken on a seemingly simple journey that can have a surprisingly powerful effect. Nicole and Oskar will lead you on a gentle walk through local green spaces, and offer ‘invitations’ to activities that heighten your sensory awareness.
Nicole and Oskar currently offer private therapy sessions programs in New York City in Central Park, The Battery, and Battery Park. Click below to learn more about this new science-based therapeutic practice that can help you reduce stress and reconnect with nature.
